Interview

How did you learn about ABWA?

“Actually don’t remember….  I did a lot of networking when I first started the business and then did not do anything for quite awhile because I was busy.  Last June when I went back to consulting full time, I was looking for networking opportunities and this was one of the groups I wanted to check out”

Why did you join ABWA?The people and the low enrollment fees were a great bonus”

What interested you about the organization?  “The networking opportunities”

Why did you feel it was important to be a part of this organization?  “I really like how supportive and welcoming the members and the whole atmosphere is”

What would you like other women to know about ABWA?  Just how supportive and great the members are”

What do you want members to know about you?  How appreciative I am of the support and how much I’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone over this past year”

What inspires you?“My husband, children, grandchildren”

Favorite Quote: “A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts, and feelings as something separate from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a sub-stantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive. (Albert Einstein, 1954)”

Best piece of advice you have received and by who…   “I can’t think of one specific piece of advice…..  From a personal perspective, I learned a lot and did a lot of growing through the process of my divorce.  Being given “permission” to value my needs and desires was a big thing for me.”

Do you have any hobbies? “Reading, hiking, bike riding, knitting/crocheting, photography, Traveling!”

Have you traveled anywhere outrageous or fabulous? “Korea, Japan, Iceland, Italy, Scotland, Greece, Cuba, we just returned from an amazing adventure in Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore”

Now for some fun facts:

List three truly unique things about you...things that you don't think anyone would every guess about you.

  1. 1.    “My grandfather’s cousin was Jack Zuta an accountant and political “fixer” for Al Capone and Bugs Moran”
  2. 2.    “Favorite show as a kid was Perry Mason – loved Raymond Burr”
  3. 3.    “As a teenager I wanted to work with dolphins and killer whales”

What is your favorite TV Show?  “Loved the Netflix original “Godless””

Favorite Song on the radio?  “No favorite on the radio …  love going to “Blue Mondays” at Lewiston in the summer – live music in Henepin park where they have Blues and Blue grass bands.  Danced to the version of “Unforgettable” that Natalie Cole did with Nat King Cole at my second wedding – love that song”

Favorite ice cream flavor? “Panda Paws”

Last movie you saw in the theater? “It was so long ago, I can’t remember….  My husband and I watch movies on Netflix with a 15 minute rule – if either of us don’t like it after 15 minutes, we change it to something else.  Funny movie theater story….  When my husband and I went on our 3rd date over 16 years ago, we went to the movie theater.  He had me choose the movie – I picked “In the Bedroom” with Sissy Spacek because I’d heard of it ( it was nominated for an Oscar) and I liked Sissy Spacek.  Worst date movie ever!!  It was really depressing – about a couple dealing with their son’s suicide.  We still laugh about that …….”

Last book you read?  “Was just a fast read, summer suspense novel.  My favorite ending to a great book is QBVII by Leon Uris

What is your favorite holiday and why?  “I really like all of the holidays, but not  any one in particular…..  Anything that gets everyone spending time together is the best.”
